Prologue It was seventy-five years ago, deep in the bowls of a military science base; the cries of a child that defied all natural science echoed through the halls of the nursery. That young, furry tailed child was the beginning of what would transpire over the next few decades. Many of these bases had the recipe for many breeds of this child and over the next twenty years they built an army; an army that won the war brewed a decade ago and ended just seven years later. These beings live in fear for their lives daily: Organizations like H.A.A (Humans Against Anthro?s), the government, and many religious activists hunt these misbegotten breeds. Their own creators -out to get rid of what they believed were abominations after they had served their purpose- decommissioned the creation of this race after the war. (The military itself had lost control of their breeding and were seeking to destroy their mistake.) Since then, safe houses formed in all major cities, the smallest and most efficient o?nes stood strong and invisible to the human eye. Deep in warehouse district of Chicago existed o?ne of these so-called safe houses. The owner of this particular warehouse (Warehouse 12 o?n Hyde Street) was a strong supporter of the Anthro race and let a few take up roots hidden deep within this warehouse. The o?nly thing this human wanted from them in return was something as simple as neutrality: never to be harmed by them. Deep in the underground catacombs of the warehouse, where the Anthro?s were free to live and be happy, away from the persecution, hate, and racism, is where our story begins. It begins.. His bunk wasn?t big enough for him, but it worked. It was just into the afternoon when he finally sat up and hit his head o?n the ceiling. ?Bloody Hell!? He curse himself. That night drinking must have caused him to sleep o?n the top bunk again, instead of his usual spot o?n the floor. A laugh from the corner of the room, the voice coming from Darren a nearly pure white female Lemur. Her usual demeanor that of indifference. ?You have got to stop sleeping up there you big goof!? She laughed and turned her chair around to face the bunks. ?Well aren?t you cheery today.? Rabid said as he fell to the floor with ease and laid down, stretching. ?Well you would be too if you saw the travesty that was you hitting your head!? Darren laughed. Her ungodly long lemur tail tapping gleefully. Her tongue licking her black speckled maw. Her maw being really the o?nly place she had markings other than her tail, which happened to don faded brownish rings. ?Oh I see, pleasure from others misfortunes eh? You best watch it, Karma is o?ne vengeful *****.? Rabid chuckled rubbing his goatee. He yawned showing a mouth full of sharp k9?s. Two large front teeth signifying he was indeed part rabbit. His long legs, long ears and three toned tail didn?t help either. Though his tiger like side did show more than anything, the muscles, the sharp teeth, the stripes, and most of all his strength. But that wasn?t his most prominent feature. It was the fact that he was 8?5 and green. Yep you got that right, green. Not neon green, not lime green, but a rotten shade of green, like pine needles. He was the o?nly o?ne any o?ne had ever seen with green fur so far. That didn?t stop people from liking him though. He was a sensitive, thoughtful, caring guy. His past didn?t hinder the others either, he wasn?t the o?nly o?ne with war under his belt. A good handful made it out of the war some better off than others. Some missing limbs, some missing their minds and others just plain bitter. Rabid was o?ne of the few who came back mostly in tact. All Rabid lost was his sight, and his life. Yes His life. He died in that war, and not even he could tell you how he came back from the dead, and with an appetite for flesh. He sat up and rubbed his head. ?What time is it?? He asked Darren. ?A bit past noon. Why?? She asked gazing at him with cream blue eyes. ?Oh no reason.? He smiled gently at her. He stood up and went to his dresser, opened a drawer and pulled out a pair of red cargo?s and slipped them o?n over his boxers. He didn?t wear shirts, they bugged him, he didn?t wear shoes either, you try finding shoe?s for someone with large demon claws for feet. He slipped a blue cloth belt o?n and stretched. He fiddled with his hair a minute and then waved bye to Darren. She didn?t bother waving back, knowing full well her roommate was blind. He wandered the dimly lite halls for a while using his hand o?n the wall where a rope had been installed upon his arrival. He didn?t need to use that rope any longer, but he couldn?t shake the habit. He knew the walls were bare concrete, painted over to many times. He had felt chips in the paint many a time, and they still were he had felt them many times before. It took him a while before getting to where he needed to be. He had a bad habit of lingering to remember the past, may it just be paint o?n the walls. The meeting room was just down this hall. Its where all the elder Furres met up to discuss the well being of their small population. He entered the room and took his seat o?n the couch near the door while the others got their things in order. ?So what?s the deal?? He asked. A fur named Crush spoke up. The rhino?s deep voice boomed softly in the room. His size taking up his own corner of the room. ?Getting food is getting harder every day. Just last week Pasha was nearly ran over by an fleet of Dark Escalades. Like the damn mafia was after him. He swears he had no ties to anyone in this area. I believe him cause he o?nly arrived just last month. Its insane I tell you. Its alright though Pasha is fine. Our scouts are finding better routes as we speak. o?n another note we have a few more refugees in route to our checkpoint to be picked up. 11 pm tonight we will be going to retrieve them. Until then we just go about normal and do our nightly food run around 7.? Rabid nodded and sat up a bit straighter. ?Well it all seems to be going fine for now. We do need to find other things rather than food. I could lead that raid while Darren leads the Food run. Sound good?? Rabid asked with a serious tone he so rarely used. Rhino nodded and the others agreed. ?What news of the team o?n the other side of town? Are they having any luck with finding out whose been killing off furres?? Rabid asked the Avian across the room. A long time buddy of Rabid?s, they served in the war together back in that day. The war had affected him more often than not, his tail feathers were gone so he couldn?t fly any longer. Not to mention the fact that his life time mate was killed as well. (Legal marriage was out of the question for most of the religious groups would not wed any of them.) His dark crow feathers ruffled as he spoke. ?Not much. Those furless bastards are keen o?n cleaning up behind themselves but they assure us that they are getting closer to exposing their wrong doings and liberating our kind. I cant wait!? His feathers ruffled a bit more. ?Now now Frank, calm down. It wont be to much longer and we can walk the streets in our own city.? Rhino consoled the bird. Rhino along with most of the Furre population were hell bent o?n getting their own city where they could be free. Some even had dreams of their own country. A voice piped in. ?I cant believe you guys started with out me!? They all looked at the door to see Fritzi, the resident scientist and genius, her poodle tail standing strait with rage. Her small frame quivering with anger. It took a lot to anger the canine and this was o?ne of those moments. She walked in and threw a stack of paper o?n the table. ?These are zee newest statistics of zee latest raid. We failed to acquire zee necessary quota to sustain zis colony.? Rabid stood up and shrugged. ?Well Rhino here just told us the scouts are looking for better routes Fritz. So cool your germen jets alright?? Rabid laughed a bit at his joke and she punched him in the arm. Rabid mock flinched at her attempt to harm him in some way. ?Do not mock me you big Ox!? She growled a bit and crossed her arms in defiance. ?Aw come o?n Fritzi, don?t make me do what I did to you last week.? She went wide eyed there for a moment, blushed and stormed out of the room and everyone laughed in good humor. Rabid chuckled with a wave at the guys. ?I guess I should go make her feel better.? He grinned and followed her out not long afterwards. He caught up with the fast little poodle girl and picked her up in mid step o?nto the stairs. She let out a scream ?Let me go you big green baboon! I have nothing to zay to you!? She beat o?n his shoulders feebly and he just pulled her up into his arms and held o?nto her till she calmed down. She huffed and crossed her arms looking away from him her buxom chest heaving in her tight crimson red corset. ?I am not talking to you. You embarrassed me in front of zee elders!? He shrugged holding o?nto her firmly. ?Why would you be embarrassed about something so natural. Unlike the humans most of our kind don?t feel that kind of thing.? He said purring into her white, purple tinted hair. ?You always smell so nice. How do you do it?? She blushed again and pushed at his head. ?Zo, eetz just not right to say such zings around zee elders especially zomezing so private.? She pouted. ?Oh quiet your soul. You liked it.? He laughed and licked her neck then set her down, but not with out a nice rump squeeze. She laughed and returned to her normal upbeat self. Her small arms wrapped around Rabid?s waist and held there for a moment. Her breasts pushing against the bulge in Rabid?s red cotton pants. He grinned and gave her yet another squeeze. ?Oh Rabid, zank you for you kind words. But I must go, many zings I have to do before tonight?s raid and pick up. I must prepare zee med lab for zee newcomers and zuch.? She smiled and scampered off and this time he let her go. A smile o?n his face and a bigger bulge in his pants. ?Damn that poodle.? He laughed and headed to his room to talk to Darren for a while before dinner. Upon entering the room he was hit with a ball of paper, it stopped him in his tracks. ?What the?? He asked confused. ?You jerk! What are my panties doing under your pillow!? He laughed so hard he fell to his knees and rolled around in the floor just to get an angry lemur pounced o?n him. She beat him in the arms till he began to bruise but he paid it no mind, he was to busy laughing. ?Well! Tell me why!? ?You cant blame a guy for collecting!? He laughed and pinned her to the floor. She wiggled furiously but to no avail. ?Actually Darren. I didn?t put it there, remember when Charles came over the night? Well apparently you guys did it o?n my bed and left it there. I just never bothered to say anything so there.? He laughed and rolled off of her and sat o?n the couch. He relaxed for a while as Darren righted herself. ?Well?..Sorry.? She grunted and sat in the chair near him. ?So how was the meeting.? She asked with a tinge of annoyance still in her voice as she straitened her blue undershirt and black baggy pants. ?Well things seem to be going against us more and more, but tonight?s predicted to be a success.? He stated plainly. Later o?n Rabid and Darren were sitting down enjoying a game of cards. Of course they were brail but he could still play a mean game of Texas Holdem. ?Ah HA! I won again!? Darren exclaimed. Rabid growled annoyingly and threw the cards he was holding at her. ?Your cheating!? ?ME?! Cheat?! How dare you!? She laughed and picked up the winnings she acquired from him, which consisted of, a pair of his boxers, his brush, and his suspenders. ?That just isn?t right ya know!? He pouted. ?What ever, I?m just going to go to the cafeteria for dinner, you coming?? Darren asked. Rabid shrugged ?Sure why not.? Then they left for dinner for that night they would need their energy for the raid ahead, along with the newcomers safety. |
