Chapter One The alarm had two minutes left before going off; Fern stared at it before leaning over and shutting it off. He snuggled under the warm blankets wondering if he should go to school or stay home and help his father care for his younger brothers and sisters. He felt the arm tighten its grip around his waist. He looked over to see his black and white father sleeping soundly; he looked more like a husky than the wolf he was meant to be. Fern wonder what he was even doing sleeping on the sofa with him; it dawned on him then in the middle of the night, he got cold and crawled in with his father to get warm. Fern looked at the clock it was now six fourth five. Time to get up he thought as he slowly pulled away from his father’s grasp, he grunted and rolled over in his sleep but didn’t wake up. Fern picked up his black pants off the floor and pulled them on, walking down the three stairs into kitchen. A snatching sound came from the back door. He opened it up to see a large black dog with a red color and a graying muzzle, "Morning to you old mutt," he said looking at before letting it come inside the house. The dog shook sending snow flying at Fern, he growled at the dog before going back to the kitchen and digging in an old tin bowl pulled out some food leftover for last time’s dinner. The dog gulped it down but picked up the chicken leg and begged to be let out again. Sighing he opened the door and watched the dog run off and following behind him was a younger brown dog just a puppy yet. Shaking his head, he shut the door and walked up the three stairs and up the main one to his bedroom. Fern opened the door slowly and looked around inside, his three younger brothers and his little sister was still sleeping. He tiptoed by them, opened his dresser, and pulled out a large dark blue sweatshirt and his army cargo pants. He then dug around looking for his white t-shirt but it wasn’t in there, Damit where is it? He thought getting a bit pissed off. Fern turned around to walk out and walked right in to his father; Fern nearly yelled but bit his tongue to stop. "What are you doing Fern? The cuds are still sleeping." He said in a drowsy voice as he looked around. Fern pushed him back outside "Nothing Dad I was getting my clothes for school," he said walking down the stairs with his father behind him, "You’re going to school?" he asked sounding very surprised. Fern stopped and turned to look at him "Yes, Father I’m going to school and by the way have you see my white t-shirt?" Ken just pointed to the laundry room, Fern grumbled as he walked over and dug around until he pulled it out. "Fern I don’t think it’s a good idea to go to school," Ken said as he heard his son getting dress "Why? You’re the one who’s telling me to go all the time," Fern said as he walked in the kitchen pulling down his blue sweatshirt. "Look outside the window," Ken said opening the pantry. Fern looked outside and groaned "Shit! It’s snowing like no tomorrow!" He said aloud, Ken yelled at his son "Watch your lang boy! The cuds could be waking up." Fern said sorry and sit down at the table still looking outside, Ken pulled out a bowl and some cereal. "So if you’re going how are get there? You can’t walk," Fern shrugged "Don’t know Lenny wasn’t feeling good yesterday and his mother said he was getting the flu." Ken grunted as he placed the bowl inside the microwave, "Too bad but if he’s sick his parents can’t pick you up." Fern nodded his head so far it looked like it was going to be a stay at home day. The large red dragon anthro shook his head as he looked out the car window, "Your nuts if you think we’re going outside in that." he said before looking back over to a golden colored female wolf sitting across for him. "Relax Takahashi, It was be alright if I know him that good he’ll stay inside," Takahashi grumbled about that it was a very bad idea, Jane shook her head and wave her hand telling the diver to go onward. It well take all of us to get to the champions and I won’t stop until we’re all together... she looked down at a photo showing a black and white male wolf holding a large gold cup in his hands. "We’ll find him Takahashi and we well win...," she said smiling at the red dragon. Takahashi looked away from her glaze, he was very uneasy about this.
