Site Useage

I've taken a look around, and I do have to say that I like the format that has been established here. I can see how it would be quite useful. Two main issues remain at the fore, as far as I am concerned:

  1. How regular and vigilant will the monitoring of this site by the administrators be?
  2. Will the writers of "Anthro" fiction frequent this place?

How does one post a book?

On the "story" and "book" subject; I have a story I'd like to post that's 8 chapters long and growing. It seems wrong to put it in the stories section, but it look like I can only add pages to a book that already exists. How does one post something as a book?

Edit: whoops, probably should have put this on the bottom as opposed to up here, sorry.

Posting a new book

I really need to put together some better FAQ pages. So much to do...

To get a new book created you need to contact me, either via this web site or by sending mail to sabbott@anthrofiction.com. Once I get your message I will create the top level book and at that point you will be able to add chapters to it.

Here is what you will need to send to me:
- Book Title
- Your username on the site
- A short description of the book
- A list of the animal/fur types in your story
- Any notes on content such as strong language, violence, adult situations, that sort of thing.

If I have any questions I'll contact you and once the book is created I will send you a message letting you know.

Answers to your questions

1. I am typically checking the site at least once a day for new submittals and to check the forums for inappropriate content. Now that the forums are integrated with the site it's a lot easier form me to see when new topics are posted and to respond/react to them.

I would also like to find a few people will to act as moderators on the forums so that if I'm not around and something questionable is posted they can deal with it. The permissions on the new site make it a lot easier to create new groups and assign them permissions, so I can create a new group for moderators and give them exactly the permissions they need.

2. I can't answer this one. Hopefully with an easier to access, submittal and editing functionality more authors will post and word will get around. Readership is cyclical, as are submittals. And since I can more easily handle the permissions once things are up and running I can allow volunteer editors/reviewers to process submittals so that there's a much faster turn around than just myself handling things.

When the site started out it took a while to get people to send in stories to put up. I'm hoping that things will pick up again. I expect it will and hope people will stick around for a while.

Stories and Books

Very well. I will make use of Anthrofiction again and see how it goes. One more thing puzzles me now. What is the real difference between posting a "Story" and a "Book"? Will there be a useage guide? And if you post a "Book", can you prevent others from adding to it -- or must it be a shared story?

Stories and Books

In my definition a Story is a non-multi chapter work of literature. This is typically a self contained story.

Books are restricted to multi-chapter works. This allows for the addition of new chapters in an easy way and doesn't result in huge stories in a single file. The really long stories can give the database fits.

Books are not going to be shared unless authors decide they want to share them. Right now I can't prevent people from adding a chapter, however the rules (which I am working on) will specifically state that unwanted postings to books owned by other authors will result in first a warning and then a banning of the offender. I will also remove the inappropriate addition to the book.

And I'll be checking to see if I can restrict access to only authors for book updates.
